Dr. Mulvagh has a strong understanding of the needs of CSE and its diverse membership. Her 40-year medical career has focused on clinical, educational and research activities in cardiovascular ultrasound. She has been active in leadership positions within the CSE, and prior to that, within the ASE.
Dr. Mulvagh earned her medical degree from the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada, and completed her internal medicine and cardiology residencies at Dalhousie University, Boston University, and Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston, TX, USA. She is a cardiologist and clinician investigator who worked at University Space Research Associates as a consultant to NASA, in Houston, TX, and then practiced at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for 26 years, before returning to Halifax, NS, Canada, where she practices at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Center where she is also Co-Director of the Women’s Heart Health Clinic, and Immediate Past-Director of the Internal Medicine Point of Care Ultrasound Curriculum. She is also Professor of Medicine at Dalhousie University, Professor Emeritusat Mayo Clinic and College of Medicine, in Rochester, MN, and Chairs the NS Provincial Board of Directors for Heart and Stroke Canada. Dr. Mulvagh is an effective communicator who builds consensus and translates ideas into strategic actions and address important knowledge and training gaps.
